Can a hostile listening environment be transformed into a haven for music enjoyment? In 1982, Bose introduced a factory-installed, custom-engineered automotive sound system. Built specifically for the acoustics of the car, it proved that a vehicle can indeed become a delightful listening space. More than just a product introduction, this event helped create the premium automotive sound system category.

The Bose® Clean Sheet Approach

Each Bose sound system starts with a team of specialists working on each automobile model to reveal the unique sonic profile of the cabin. Nearly every decision about the sound system is based on this information, from speaker type and location to signal processing and equalization.  It's an approach we developed, and it distinguishes Bose performance from conventional automotive sound systems.

Continuous research

Bose continues to develop proprietary speaker designs, advanced analysis tools and unique signal processing technologies, all based on a heritage of research and innovation. Bose sound systems are found in more than 100 vehicle models from a host of manufacturers worldwide. We invite you to hear the difference for yourself. To make sure the system is from the most respected name in sound, look for our logo inside the vehicle.

Bose automotive milestones

1982 Moving sound

Bose introduces factory-installed sound systems, custom engineered to the acoustics of four specific vehicle models. This event introduces the premium automotive sound system category.

1997 The Nd™ woofer

This unique Bose speaker, less than 2.5 inches (60 mm) thick, uses a powerful neodymium iron boron magnet and innovative design to add depth to the music while fitting easily inside tight spaces in vehicle cabins.

1998 AudioPilot™ noise compensation technology

This innovation—available only from Bose—redefines noise compensation in an automobile. It measures both music and unwanted noise and automatically makes real-time adjustments to the music output, so listeners hear more of the music.

2003 Centerpoint™ signal processing circuitry

Engineered specifically for automotive sound systems, this proprietary innovation delivers music with the enhanced spaciousness of surround sound—even from conventional stereo recordings.

2003 SurroundStage™ signal processing circuitry

This Bose technology is used in automotive surround sound systems. It helps create a balanced 360-degree sound field at each seat, allowing listeners to feel as if they are in the middle of the music.

2007 The Bose media system

The result of extensive research, the introduction of the Bose media system represents a new approach to automobile infotainment. With just two knobs and a few buttons, users can access and control nearly every entertainment, navigation and communication feature.
