The Brisbane Girls Grammar School, founded in 1875, is one of Australia’s leading independent schools with an excellent and consistent record of academic achievement. With over 1000 students currently enrolled from Year’s 8 to 12, the school is committed to providing premium facilities and assisting in delivering high-quality education for their students.
Challenge
For a number of years now, Bose has supplied quality audio to many parts of the campus, one being the McCrae Grassie Sports Centre – a large multifunctional venue that utilises an area of 1900 m2. This facility was the most challenging space to date: the large centre is a relatively reverberate space despite being acoustically treated. The requirements included a multi-zone, foreground music system for a variety of applications such as dance classes, assemblies and music and drama productions.
Solution
The Bose sound solution involved a zoned array of Panaray® 802® loudspeakers. These were placed through the middle of the hall and powered by three Cloud VTX 1500 power amplifiers. This hallmark Bose professional loudspeaker is renowned for its performance, versatility and durability. Eight proprietary 4½” full-range drivers and active equalisation help deliver vocals and instruments with smoothness and warmth at high or low sound pressure levels. This configuration reproduces clear, natural sound and reduces acoustical dead spots with even coverage over a wide listening area. Their efficient size allows the audience to see more of the event and less of the speakers.
Result
Brisbane Girls Grammar School’s Sports Centre now provides clear and crisp audio which performs well at both low and high levels. As a result, the system is perfectly suited to provide quality sound for dance classes, assemblies and music performances.
