BioDynamic 5900 Close-up

Several dental applications may benefit from tissue engineering therapies.  Tissue-engineered pulp and dentin can be used to replace inflamed or necrotic pulp after a root canal in patients.  Bone tissue engineering may assist with osseointegration of dental implants.  Whole-tooth tissue engineering efforts are also ongoing (Yildirim et al., International Journal of Oral Science, 2011).  Mechanical loading and characterization of dental implants and materials in a sterilizable environment that can also be used to create anaerobic conditions may be useful for dental tissue engineering applications.

ElectroForce® BioDynamic® test instruments or autoclavable chambers that can be added to load frames, such as the ElectroForce 3200, 3330 and TestBench systems, are available for compression and torsion loading with cell culture media perfusion.  Bose® test instruments are highly suitable for dental applications that require the application of high fidelity waveforms coupled with the need for small displacement amplitudes.
