ElectroForce

3200 Series III with DMA Grips

Bose has introduced two new high-accuracy test systems:  the ElectroForce® 3200 Series III test instrument and the ElectroForce 3330 Series II test instrument.  These new test instruments achieve the highest measured displacement resolution and accuracy for electrodynamic test systems.  With measurement resolution of a nanometer and accuracies in the range of microns, these systems extend the range of testing, providing an order of magnitude improvement in displacement measurement at low amplitudes.

Low-amplitude testing accuracy is a growing need for research and product development engineers to design better materials and products for applications such as microelectronics, low-amplitude material fatigue characterization, small bone or tissue measurements, and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) of elastomers.

The Bose® high-accuracy displacement sensor

ElectroForce 3200 Series III and 3330 Series II systems include the enhanced measurement capability of the Bose® high-accuracy displacement sensor. This enables an even wider range of testing by significantly improving low-amplitude displacement measurements. Tests that require displacement measurements less than 1 mm will benefit most from the improved measurement.

The Bose high-accuracy system offers several important features and benefits for a number of test applications:

  • Resolution – 1 nm resolution is unparalleled in dynamic test systems, especially systems that have the dynamic performance of ElectroForce test instruments. Improved resolution improves the quality of data analysis techniques.

  • Accuracy – With accuracy levels on the order of microns, ElectroForce Series II and Series III test instruments are calibrated to exceed the highest accuracy class, Class A, of ASTM E-2309 so test engineers can be assured of the accuracy of their data.

  • Noise - Over 10 times improvement in noise allow users to better process their data to obtain high quality results. There is no need to filter the channels due to sensor noise which can often put data at risk by masking actual motion.

  • Responsiveness - The displacement sensor subsystem measures and provides data to the WinTest® control system at very high speeds. This new capability provides improved controls responsiveness, and as a result, Series II and Series III test instruments extend ElectroForce dynamic performance even further.

  • Single displacement channel – The full-stroke measurement is accomplished with one simple and easy-to-use displacement channel so the test operator no longer has to utilize multiple sensors to provide both absolute and high-resolution measurements.

The high-accuracy displacement measurement is available on both the ElectroForce 3200 Series III test instrument, for tests and up to 450 N, and on the table-top and floor-standing ElectroForce 3330 Series II test instrument, providing testing levels up to 3000 N.

ElectroForce Series II and Series III instruments are available immediately, and existing ElectroForce 3200 and 3330 instruments can also be field-upgraded to the new level of accuracy and resolution performance.
