Most non-headphone products will have a 17-digit serial number that can be found on a sticker located on its back panel or on the bottom of the product*. It will typically appear near a bar code as in this example:

For headphone products, the serial number location varies by fit and function.

  • Noise-canceling headphones with an around-ear fit will have a 17-digit serial number printed below the bar code on a sticker inside the right earcup (figure E). Exceptions: Model QC-1 QuietComfort® headphones do not have a product identifiable serial number. Bose® Aviation Headset X and A20® Headsets have a 17-digit serial number printed on a sticker under the headband cushion.
  • Headphones with an around-ear fit (no noise-cancelation) will have a 17-digit serial number printed below the bar code on a sticker inside the left earcup.
  • Noise-canceling headphones with an in-ear fit will have a 4-digit headset identification code printed below the “L” on the left earbud (figure A)
  • Headphones with an in-ear fit (no noise-cancelation) will have a 4-digit headset identification code printed under the removable silicon ear tip (figure B) of one earbud, or both. Exception: A Bluetooth® headset with an in-ear fit has a 4-digit headphone identification code printed above the micro-USB connector.
  • Noise-canceling headphones with an on-ear fit will have a 17-digit serial number printed inside the headphone battery compartment.
  • Headphones with an on-ear fit (no noise-cancelation) may have a 4-digit headset identification code printed onto the inner edge of right earcup bracket (figure D) at the peak of the arc. If a 4-digit code is not present, locate the 17-digit serial number printed on a sticker underneath the left ear cushion (figure F). Exception: On-Ear Bluetooth® headphones have a 4-digit headset identification code printed inside the right arm of the headband (figure C) which is only visible when the headband is fully extended.

*The serial number appearing on products produced before 1996 will not be 17-digits in length. Such serial numbers do not provide any product identification information. Please select the "Get Started" option on the previous page to identify your product.
